Leighton Art Centre Summer Camp
I spent every Friday afternoon during July and August at the Leighton Art Center. The summer camp students were introduced to disc golf during their week, then on Friday they were given the opportunity to throw a disc through a 3 hole course set up on the hill in front of the gallery. I shared information about our course and the sport of disc golf. The course included targets of a wash tub, frame and weaving loom, a little heritage and art! Each camper received a complimentary pass to play a round of disc golf so we look forward to seeing families at our course.

More Snow?
After experiencing some beautiful days of spring the snow has arrived again! Starting Thursday through Sunday the snow has closed the course to players. Two trees were cut down in order to drive down the driveway and many more trees are damaged from the heavy wet snowy conditions. However the moisture will be good for the pasture on the course. The birds sitting on their nests are suffering through the cold too.

Course Officially Open for the 2010 Season
Mother nature gave a spring snowstorm so the course opening was delayed a week, so we opened May 8. Nice to see some warmer weather and a little green, along with the shooting stars, wood violets and buttercups throughout the course. The many birds are very active with nesting activity. The horses have done a great job grazing on the course over the winter, keeping the pasture grass lower for the season. We are looking forward to our third season. Be sure to book a tee time for the Victoria Day holiday we are open 12 to 5 pm.

Spring Has Arrived at WJ Disc Golf Course
With such a warm spring the snow has melted early this year. Even though the course is not officially open until May 1 we have had numerous players in March and April.
It is great to see so many taking advantage of our membership special and heading out on the course. Check out the photos of spring at WJ.

Snow Shoe Disc Golf
Tim and Heather doing a little Snow Shoe Disc Golfing out on the course over Christmas.

Tim prepping for the big tee shot on Hole #16. Heather sitting down on the job after nearly acing hole 17? Testing yellow cord and flourescent string for locating discs.
Drill a small whole in a bright flexible disc (do not use white discs unless you're playing in yellow snow) and then attach a length of bright string or cord through the hole by tieing a not on both sides of the hole. We used a midrange, bright yellow Comet - they stay pretty flexible in the cold and even make the snow kind of glow a bit when they are just under the surface.
Snow Shoes make for much easier navigation of the course when there is more than a skiff of snow ... and it is fun too!
Check out our Photos section for more Snow Shoe Disc Golf action.
